Why We Exist

To shift the power.

We exist because for too long, health systems have been designed for communities, instead of with them. This top-down design is exactly why clinics run dry, budgets get misallocated and women's voices are locked out of the rooms where decisions are made.

We are here to disrupt this status quo. White Ribbon Alliance Kenya exists to shift power away from failing systems and place it directly into the hands of the women, girls and communities who use them. We break the silence, bridge the gap between citizens and leaders, and force the health system to answer to the people.

The Price of Delay - Today in Kenya

We refuse to accept the unacceptable.

A Kenyan woman reflecting on the cost of preventable maternal and newborn loss.

Every single day in Kenya, 15 mothers and 92 newborns die from preventable complications of pregnancy and childbirth.

These are not mere statistics. These are our mothers, daughters and sisters. They are dying because our health system is failing them. Clinics lack water, electricity, blood and basic medicine. Emergency transport is missing when it is needed most. In the labour ward, women are disrespected, ignored and silenced. Decisions are made by politicians and leaders without the people most affected.

These are not natural deaths; they are structural and institutional injustices driven by neglect and a refusal to listen to women. It is an accountability crisis.

We refuse to look away. We refuse to accept this.

Who We Are

A women-led movement.

We are a homegrown, women-led movement dismantling systemic gaps to deliver reproductive, maternal, newborn, adolescent, and child health justice across Kenya. We reject the idea that women are passive beneficiaries or "recipients" of care. Women are rights holders and the real experts of their own bodies, their own health, and their own communities.

We do not give women power; they are born with inherent power. Our role is to ignite that collective power, bring the health agenda out of elite boardrooms and shift control straight to the grassroots so women can lead, self-determine their priorities and shape the systems that serve them.

How We Do It

We Ask. We Listen. We Act.

We turn women's voices into direct action through our proven power approach.

We Ask

We begin by asking women and girls what they truly need. Their voices guide every decision we make, ensuring our work reflects their lived realities and aspirations.

We Listen

Listening deeply and without judgment, we create safe spaces where women share their stories, challenges, and dreams. These conversations become the foundation for meaningful change.

We Act

We transform what we hear into action - advocating for policy changes, developing programmes, and mobilising communities. When women speak, we ensure decision-makers listen and respond.

Our Core Pillars of Focus
