What We Do

Reproductive, Maternal & Newborn Health (RMNH).

Our flagship pillar. We work with women, midwives, providers, counties and the national government to make safe pregnancy, dignified childbirth and healthy newborns a reality - especially for women long excluded from quality care.

What this pillar covers

Respectful Maternity Care (RMC)

Making respect, choice and kindness the standard in every maternity ward - not the exception.

Self-Care

Practical tools, information and community support for menstrual health, family planning, mental wellbeing and postpartum recovery.

Midwifery investment

Standing with midwives - the most important frontline workers in maternal and newborn care - and pushing for the investments they need to do their jobs well.

Newborn survival

Tackling the preventable causes of newborn death through frontline practice change, supply chains and accountability.

How we work

  • Surface the demands of women and girls through national listening exercises.
  • Translate those demands into county-level plans and budgets.
  • Strengthen frontline practice through provider training and peer mentorship.
  • Track delivery with citizen-led accountability scorecards.

Why it matters

Quality of care is the biggest killer of mothers.

The Confidential Enquiry into Maternal Deaths found that poor quality of care accounts for 9 in 10 maternal deaths in Kenya. Fixing this requires more than facilities - it requires women's voices at the centre of how care is delivered.
